After a winter's worth of hungry drives to church at the break of dawn, lyrics began to form in my head in which I confused the sunrises I was driving directly toward with various delectable breakfast spreads. It was only later, when I sat down at my piano and played around with parallel thirds and mixed meters, that I began molding the lyrics I had previously written to fit the musical phrasing. And so "Breakfast" was born!

As far as arrangement and instrumentation goes, this is one of the few tracks on "Pictures at an Inhibition" that's just me, playing just about every instrument I know how to play. The church organ sets the scene and the mandolin brings home the song's bluegrass influence.

I hope this track whets your appetite for the full album release of "Pictures at an Inhibition" on April 30th!
